San Diego's business leaders say they are worried about President Trump's plan for tariffs on products from Mexico.
Key members of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce met Monday with U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson. The goal was to emphasize the importance of a stable trade relationship between the two countries.
President Trump has announced that a thirty percent tariff on imports from Mexico and the European Union would start August 1st.
The San Diego Chamber's Vice President of International and Public Affairs says Mr. Trump's tariff announcement "continues to raise serious concerns for San Diego's cross-border economy."
He adds the chamber is urging "continued dialogue and coordination between both nations to avoid disruptions and uncertainty."
