An investigation is underway after a body was found in the parking lot of the Westwood Club Fitness Center in Rancho Bernardo.
Police were called to the 17000 block of West Bernardo Drive around 2:30 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a woman on the ground who was unresponsive.
Investigators say the woman was lying next to a car and bleeding from her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Based on the unexplained injuries, the death was determined to be suspicious, and the Homicide Unit was notified," police added.
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
