The body of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, will be flown from Utah to Arizona on Air Force Two, following his fatal shooting at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (September 10), Fox News reported. Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance will accompany Kirk's family and friends on the flight to Phoenix, where Kirk resided.
Kirk, a prominent conservative activist, was shot while speaking at an event in Orem, Utah. Authorities are conducting a manhunt for the shooter, who remains at large. The FBI has released images of a person of interest and is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. The shooter reportedly used a high-powered rifle and fled into a nearby neighborhood.
President Donald Trump announced that Kirk will receive a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom. Trump credited Kirk with mobilizing young voters and supporting his second presidential campaign. Kirk, who was 31, leaves behind his wife, Erika, and two children.
The shooting has heightened security concerns across the political landscape, with several events being canceled or moved indoors. Utah Valley University has closed its campus until Monday (September 15) as the investigation continues. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
