A planned mental health hospital in Escondido is in jeopardy.
Palomar Health was awarded a 50 million dollar grant in May that was to fund a 120 bed project in Escondido.
However, the State Department of Healthcare Services, which is administering the money, has taken it back. It said it took the action because the Public Healthcare District, which applied through its charitable foundation, was unable to meet "match requirements."
Asked about the future of the proposed mental health hospital, the Union-Tribune reports a spokesperson for the organization said they had "no comment at this time."
