Report: Border Patrol Agents Fail Migrants Screening

A new audit shows border patrol agents in San Diego failed to properly screen migrants who could pose a threat to national security.

The report comes from the office of the Inspector General. It finds agents were overwhelmed, with too many migrants in custody, many said they did not have enough time to conduct proper interviews..

Many of the migrants were flagged as "special interest," meaning they could have ties to terrorism or smuggling networks. The report also found that customs and border protection hasn't updated its list of high rsk countries in nearly a decade.

ABC 10 reports the union representing border patrol agents hasn't responded to a request for comment.
