The USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier is on its way back home to San Diego.
The Vinson got to Hawaii just before a Tsunami alert was issued on Tuesday. It's currently docted at Pearl Harbor.
This is the Vinson's first port visit in 125 days during a nine month deployment to the Middle East and Pacific.
The Union-Tribune reports there is no timetable for its return, but it will be a five day trip back to San Diego once the carrier leaves Hawaii.
While in Hawaii, Capt. Matthew Thomas was relieved by Capt. Joshua Wenker as commanding officer of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier during a change of command ceremony held on the flight deck of the Carl Vinson Wednesday.
Thomas’ command tour included two deployments and participation in the biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise reports DVIDS news.
