A 32-year-old math teacher from Corner Lake Middle School in Orlando, Florida, has been accused of engaging in sexual activities with a student during lunchtime. Sarah Jacas, the teacher in question, was arrested on Monday (June 23) and appeared before a judge on Tuesday (June 24), according to local reports. The allegations involve a now 16-year-old boy who claimed he had sexual encounters with Jacas when he was 14, spanning from December 2022 to April 2023.
The alleged victim reportedly spent lunch periods in Jacas' classroom due to difficulties fitting in with peers. The two communicated via text until the boy's parents intervened, after which Jacas allegedly continued contact through Instagram. The situation came to light when Jacas' husband discovered the relationship and threatened to report her.
Jacas faces multiple charges, including two counts of lewd or lascivious battery and molestation under custodial authority, and one count of engaging in sexual conduct as an authority figure. Her bond is set at $19,000. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by law enforcement and the district's Office of Professional Standards, as confirmed by the school's principal in a message to the school community. Jacas will not return to campus pending the investigation's outcome.
Jacas is not currently working at Orange County Public Schools during the summer break.
